    Default User profiles messed up...

I was talking with somebody from another company office today, and she asked about this problem - none of the Map 3D functions were available on their Civil 3D 2008 installs.

As we dug deeper, it turns out that none of the Civil 3D functions are there, either. They've been running using the "Civil 3D as ACAD" icons, basically giving them vanilla AutoCAD.

So we tried starting from the normal C3D 2008 icon, and it made no difference. They seem to have a named user profile in addition to the "AutoCAD" profile, but it has no Map or Civil functions either.

Killing the profile and starting C3D results in a new profile being built. A vanilla profile.

I know I've seen this before, but I just can't find it here, the discussion groups, the subscription KB...

Anybody here remember how to make it recreate an actual C3D profile? Including the Map functions?

    Or is it wipe/reinstall time?

Default Re: User profiles messed up...

Came up with a solution today - had somebody new log on to her system and start C3D, so it made new user files and generated a new user profile that was correct for C3D.

Then we did an export of the profile, changed logins, and imported/renamed the saved profile and now they're golden.

My next option was a registry hack that would have forced that secondary install, but I like the way this worked better. The office in question is 2,500 miles away and there aren't any users I'd really want in regedit.
