Default Problem Occurred with AutoCAD 2009 Updates on MS Vista Platform

    Hi ALL,

I recently had a new PC with Vista and Inventor pro 2009 which includes AutoCAD Mech 2009.

The reason that I post this thread here is that I think this is a general update problem for AutoCAD 2009 version.

My problem was that I could not open any programs on Vista platform after updateing AutoCAD 2009. I also found the Vista's sidebar doesn't work at all.

I then switched to an earier system restore point (which was at the time before downloading Autodesk updates) and everything were back to normal.

I also noticed that the problem most likely caused by the Microsoft SQL sever updates which is a part of AutoCAD 2009 updates.

I now fomatted the hard driver and reinstalled everything but without any AutoCAD & Inventor updates.

    All programs run fine.

    NOTE:
    1) It runs fine when my new PC not networked. The problem only happens when it networked.
    2) It was fine on my old PC with Windows XP pro.

I STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU DO NOT INSTALL ANY AUTODESK UPDATES FOR 2009 VERSIONS UNTILL THIS PROBELM IS IDENTIFIED BY AUTODESK.

PLEASE ALSO LET ME KWON IF YOU HAVE A BETTER SOLUTION.

    Cheers

    I have Vista 32.
Do you work in network environment or just have a single PC?
My had the problem when my PC networked.
It ran fine when I pulled out the cable & restarted it.

PS. We have 2 of new PCs having the same problem & all running Vista 32.

I have had reinstalled AutoCAD 2009 & Inventor 2009 TWICE before formatting the hard driver. I also installed all updates each time.

It doesn't help at all till I formatted the hard driver & reinstalled everything without any Autodesk updates.

funny how when something works for us but not for others, we assume that the others are doing something wrong.
