    Question Difficulty With Array

I am trying to work with an out of the box family from Revit MEP. When I try to flex the height and width, the array of lines shifts out of alignment. I swear I've had this problem before and I can't remember what I did to fix it.

    Revit family is attached. Thanks!

It's working fine here, both in the Family Editor and the Project Environment. What can we do to reproduce the flexing problem you're seeing?

I've tried the family yesterday too, but didn't find any problems with it. Did you post the right family?

Okay, I just tried flexing it and oddly everything seemed to be fine, until I went back to the original duct size of 12".

Try this: First change Duct Width and Duct Height to 8" and apply. Then change them both back to 12" and apply. Does that do the trick?

    Thanks!

Now I see. So what I did to fix the problem was to recreate the array, by using the "Last" option instead of "2nd" option when arraying. Doing this, I could lock the first object from the array to the reference planes and also lock the last one. All in between stay aligned then...

    See attached.

Somtimes it's a matter of where the reference planes that are set to define origin in the nested family are located in relation to those on the host family. In this case they are located on the left side in the nested family but in the midpoint in the host. You might try setting one in the midpoint in your nested family and place EQ constraints and set that to define origin. It might help to eliminate array "dislodging" as the length of the element will grow outwards. Basically as a rule, I try to have the same setup/structure for both the nested and host families.
