Default Contextual Ribbon Panels not closing

Does anyone else have this problem?

Sometimes the contextual ribbons that pop up with certain commands are not closing once that command has been exited. Particularly block editor. It is reamaining on all ribbons which is really condensing the buttons.

Is there a manual way to close these contextual ribbons?

    Regards,

    Craig.

I had this happen with the MText panel the other day while editing an MLeader.

My solution was to save everything and close AutoCAD.

Probably not the answer you wanted to hear but it worked.

Is there a way to prevent the ribbons to change automatically?

I want my custom panel to be shown at all times. If I need the
mtext panel while editing, I can change it myself.

I have the same problem inside the block editor. My solution is to minimize the ribbon, that seems to fix it everytime.

Robert, no. I haven't heard of any way to stop the contextual panels from opening.

    Better late than never, right?

I am having this problem and so far it appears that Autodesk is pointing to the fact that I created a custom Ribbon Panel. I am in the process of testing an installation without the custom panel. We all know what those results are going to be or they wouldn't have asked me to perform this test

I'm hoping to send them my custom cui file for review. If I get a logical answer or resolution on this, I'll post it here.

It is a productivity buster when you have to sort through all of your unused ribbon panels simply because they won't close like I'm sure they were designed to do.

By the way, this is the case with the following "activate only when needed" panels:

    MText Editor
    Reference Editor
    Block Editor

Smile Re: Contextual Ribbon Panels not closing

OK...you go on vacation...come back...and everything is right with the world!

I continued with some customization today. In doing so, I reloaded my profile and workspace a few times. Now, the contextual menus appear and disappear as they should.

    Who-da-thunk-it?

I'm still trying to duplicate the problem, but haven't been able to as of yet.

Don't it drive you crazy when things start working correctly again for no apparent reason?

Just a thought, but I don't suppose that your ACAD has automatically updated and fixed the problem while you've been away?

I went to install SP1 for MEP yesterday, (hoping to speed it up a bit), only to find that it was already installed.

I had this issue appear again yesterday while editing a Multileader.

I'm updated to the teeth. So it appears to still be out there... at least on my install.

Unhappy Re: Contextual Ribbon Panels not closing

Well...Nevermind! The Ribbon problem came back today. So...even if it did get updated, it didn't take care of the problem.

Honestly, with this issue and the general performance related issues of using the Ribbon AND the fact that all of my users are used to toolbars...I think I may deploy with a toolbar environment instead of Ribbon environment that I was shooting for.

I hate this because performance aside, I fell in love with the new Ribbon interface and I've been using AutoCAD since 1996. It's not like I'm one of those new users that they "designed the Ribbon interface for".

Oh well. I'll save my customizations for the Ribbon environment and when all this is straightened out I'll try to convert them (my users) to Ribbon interface.

Thanks for the replies and take care!
