    Default Water Heater

I am trying to design a hot/cold water system. Is there an easy way to make the water heaters plumbing equipment or something other than mechanical equipment. I don't want to see mechanical equipment in a plumbing view...Thanks!

You can turn off anything you want by right clicking on the equpment and Hide in view, Elements.

    Or utilize worksets

If you put all your plumbing equipment on the "plumbing" workset, and the HVAC on an "HVAC" workset, you will be able to filter the view to only show elements based upon what you want.

If I hide the elements in the view, how do I bring them back if needed? Thanks again!

hit the light bulb tool "Reveal Hidden Elements" at the bottom of the screen. all hidden elements will show up in red. go get some coffee, because it will be slow if there's alot of hidden elements or categories turned off. but you can then highlight one or a group of elements and right click to Unhide in view-elements or category. then hit the light bulb again to go back to normal view mode.

A easy way to do this is to click the water heater, then click edit family. In the water heater family click Settings, then Family Categories and Parameters and set the water heater to Plumbing Fixture and load it back into the project and check the override button.

Changing it in the Family category is what I was looking for. Good to know that I can hide elements in the view so easy though! Thanks again!

Changing the family category may bring troubles for system creation, schedule items.
Another way to control the visibility is to set subcategory for this family.
