Default Remove / Delete Device Style

Is it possible to remove a device style from a drawing?

    Thanks,

    Thanks,
    Hi Sean,

If it's not being used in the drawing, sure.

You can either go to FILE - Drawing Utilities - Purge Building Systems Objects to delete all unused styles or go to FORMAT - Style Manager - Electrical Objects - Device Styles and right click and select purge to only delete unused devices.

    Hope this helps,

Some see the glass as half full, others as half empty. As an engineer I see the glass as twice as big as it needs to be. ~Unknown~

    Scott thanks for the reply.

My problem lies in that I want to delete one or some that I guess ARE used. For example I started with copying the lighting drawing (Lighting - Fluorescent (US Imperial).dwg) and renamed it then I modified some of the "Device Styles" to meet our company standards. Now I want to thin out the device styles to only include ones that I modified.

I tried to purge both ways that you described but it won't purge any that I select.

    Thoughts anyone?

Sure. Open a new drawing in addition to the original drawing. Open Style Manager and drag and drop the desired styles into the new drawing. Save the new drawing and use it instead of the old one.

    Thanks Robert.

Will I need to copy anything else under the Electrical Objects besides the device styles?

No. That OOTB file simply provides the content for the lighting fixtures palettes.

FWIW, I advise always placing your customized content in separate files from the OOTB files. This makes it easy to handle upgrades in the future (you don't need to worry about overwriting your own content with new OOTB files). You can use SM to easily copy any of the OOTB items into a new file, so it is not like you are making more work for yourself.
