Default Stairs NEED to be able to join to floors!

I just had a contractor call me because our plan view showed an extra tread and riser as compared to the section. It happened because it's a concrete monolithic stair (which must end with a tread at the top) coming up to a concrete slab. Having the tread at the top created an additional line on the plan and the contractor interpreted that as a riser.

Yes I know line work can take care of that, but that has to be done in each and every view. If stairs could be joined to floors then it would take care of every plan and every section view project-wide. It could really save us a lot of time and grief if this were possible.

Not yet... I suppose what we should have done is make the top-most tread of the stairs be the actual landing. Then it would have looked correct in plan and in section. But the boss was drawing it and he didn't know about that technique at the time.

But it still would be nice if we could join stair, wall, and floor geometry together. Monolithic stairs is really where it's needed.

I've run into a similar issue.

I agree, stairs should join to floors... particularly monlithic stairs.

This is a shoddy work around, but it worked for my last project. Model the stairs so that the top edge finishes as a riser, not as a tread.

Then model the floor to be the "top tread" so to speak.

Granted, this made my stair sections a pain in the ***. But I guess you have to pick your poison at this point.

I think Revit will throw up all kinds of errors if you make a monolithic stair end with a riser at the top. Stretching the top "tread" (which is actually floor level) to become the landing, and setting your landing thickness equal to your floor slab will make it look correct in both plan and section, with no clean-up needed.
