    Default Problem with making solid

Hello, I'm using AutoCad 2004. Briefly I've constructed a box with windows and a doorway. The windows and doorway have depth, ie a 'z' dimension. Whatever I select either the parts of an individual window or all the windows or even the whole thing. Rightclicking after selection just returns to the original state. ie, nothing joined.

The 'union' just doesnt seem to work. I've selected all the different objects and they dont form a solid. I did a test on another drawing and it works fine. What could be different on this one? Thanks.

    Hi Roger, welcome to AUGI.

When you say "doorway" do you mean door and/or door frame?
Are you sure that the doors/windows are solids not meshes?
    Are they in a block(s)?
Are they on a locked layer(s)?

What does the LIST command tell you about the objects?

Hello John. Glad to be here. Thanks for your help. As a novice I can do no better than put up a pic of my drawing so far (above) and a copy of the 'list' command (below) in which I selected the whole drawing. I havent included all of the results as there were three pages of it but this is a sample from the top. I'm afraid it means little to me apart from the coordinates except that I can see no mention of a 'mesh' and the layer is '0' throughout. Thanks

If these were solids it looks as if they have been exploded.
Regions can be Extruded but I don't think you can do much with bodies.
Try "Historymode" and "Historyshow" - I think they were introduced in A2007 so will be "unknown command"s for you but, if they are recognised by your software, you may be able to backtrack to before the Explode operation.
