    how can I make the command line dock permanently?

    The command line window is not like a regular palette, it doesn't dock at all. What do you mean "permanently"?

    Dock it, then save your workspace and exit AutoCAD. Restarting AutoCAD should load your last workspace unless you have a specific workspace assigned with your shortcut that starts AutoCAD that is different than the workspace your just saved, such as a different name.

    True, What I meant was that it doesn't anchor like the other palettes. What Richard says would apply if you save your workspace. The default setting is to not save changes.WSAUTOSAVE = 1.
