are you saying there's a ton of info in model space and you don't know what goes where? Try double clicking in the viewport and drawing a thick pline across the drawing in red. Then, when you go to model space, just look for the thick red line.
Or
You could maximize the viewport and zoom out to see the area where the drawing is.
I had assumed the viewport in a drawing layout referenced the model in the same drawing file. I brought up the model, edited it, went to the layouts and two of them are refencing a different model how do i determine what dwg?
It sounds like an Xref (externally referenced drawing).
Pick something in modelspace and use LIst (list). If it is an xref the listing will say so.
Are you talking about an xref drawing (model)?
When you say you "brought up the model" do you mean you went to a different file and edited it, or just in model space of the same drawing?
To check where an xref file is coming from, go into your xref manager, select the xref name and the box at the bottom should give you the file name and path.
If this isn't the case, can you provide more information?
Also, if it is an Xref, might I suggest setting double click editng (in your CUI) to open the Xref upon double click. That way, you just double click the Xref, and it opens. No need to search for it.
