    Question Background Mask

    Can anyone tell me how to turn on the background when you draw a dimension.... Actually, it works when I do a text box but when I draw a dimension, I can't put any background.

    I'm not really sure what you mean by background. Are you talking about the outline of the dimension before you place it? If yes, check your DRAGMODE variable, it should be set to On or Auto

    The background mask works on a mtext box but on a linear dimension it doesn't works.
    By backgroud mask I mean the way to hide lines or others objects behind your text.

    There isn't a way of masking the background within the dimension. You will have to make a separate object like a wipeout or solid set to color 255.

    Hi

    If only that statement was true

    Check out the following links -

    Background Mask Extender

    Tips & tricks for AutoCAD 2005

    Mask Dimensions...

    Text Background Masks

    The below snippets are from AutoCAD 2005 Reviews -

    <snip>
    MTEXT and Dimension text now supports background fill/mask capability.
    </snip>

    <snip>
    Backgrounds for multiline text and dimensions. Add an opaque fill or background mask to emphasize multiline text and dimension text in a visually complex drawing.
    </snip>

    <snip>
    Mtext Improvements: You can now add a background mask on mtext (and dimensions) to hide geometry that would normally pass through it (making it unreadable). Its tied to the object, moves with it, and grows or shrinks with the annotation.
    </snip>

    Have a good one, Mike

    No...sorry...it doesn't works....I know it's written in the new features found in 2005 LT but if you try to do this in the program it doesn't work....I've downloaded the background mask extender and placed the .arx in .../program files/autocad 2005 lt/ with the others *.arx, restarted autocad and tried the new commands but it still don't works.

    I didn't think you could use arx files with LT.

    Does anyone know what controls the size of the background mask when you use the background fill in the Dim Style Manager?
