    Question Civil 3D Contour Labels acting strange

    Civil 3D, ACAD 2008

    I have been getting odd results, and even different results in the same drawing, when labeling contours in Civil 3D.

    #1 Sometimes the label mask works, sometimes it doesn't, and, as I said above, sometimes in the same drawing I will get different results. The mask works in model space and paper spave v-port, but plot preview and actual plot does not mask behind.

    #2 Trying to turn off Contour Label Line through Properties menu;
    Seems to work in model and paper space but when plotted the line shows.

    Any ideas ?

    Thanks in advance.

    #1 You will be required to plot with "lines overwrite" enabled. Not always preferred but that's the way that masking works. You can find a lot of ranting about that here and on Autodesk Discussion Groups.

    #2 I would change my default labels. Settings menu> right click surfaces> look at the attached screenshot.

    If that doesn't fix it for the next labels you create then maybe the object layer for tin-surface labels is on something it shouldn't be.

    good luck and let us know if that doesn't work.
