The default 3D view is an isometric view, with edges oriented 30 degrees from horizontal on the screen.
Clicking the Home icon or on any corner of the ViewCube will result in a 30 degree isometric projection.
I confirmed this by actually holding a 30/60/90 triangle (yes I still have those, they were my dad's from the 1960's and impeccably accurate) up to the screen, and I could see in fact that the building model's edges were oriented 30 degrees from flat horizontal.
you must mean if you click the 3d icon with the little house beside it
a camera view doesn't seem to default to an iso view
actually to expand my journey on this I wanted to create a family of a foundation connector and show it with a detail... creating the family is easily but i do not know how to get it to a sheet as an iso view.
without duplicating a view then import it in.
apparently this cannot be done in a drafting view..
I know .... confussing...

Your situation is a good one for a future Annotations phase. We did the tenant improvement drawings for our office with custom furniture. We placed the furniture in the future phase and then developed orthogonal and iso drawings.
Select the F8 key in a Revit 3D or perspective view & it will bring up the Dynamic view dialogue box. On the right side of the box is an ">" button. Select this & the dialgue box expands to reveal Options to orient to a direction. You will then find all the default isometric views you could possibly want there. Select F8 to close the dialogue.
good tips
thanks
future phase.... new door to knock on... hope its friendly..
