Default [2008] Control Family Category (OPEN)

Could a family category be created for HVAC controls. This category could include thermostats, sensors, low voltage control panels, i.e. anything HVAC related that is 24 volt. Right now we are using mechanical equipment and the electrical boys have to hide elements to not see them.

Also is there a thermostat available.

    Thanks
    Bob V.

Okay, so this I have tried several times to make a simple thermostat in revit. I have had much success making all kinds of families in the past, but this one is driving me crazy. It's a simple box that is face hosting with an elevation. In plan view I have the 3d geometry invisible and have an annotative symbol that is a simple circle and label. I want one quadrant of the circle to touch the wall, but I want the label (which contains one charicter, T) to not rotate at all, or at least follow the right read rule. I have successfully gotten the circle to display in plan view, and the box in 3d view, but not the label. Any ideas on what I am missing?

    Thanks,
    David Raynor

I agree. We have created our thermostat as an Electrical Device which means I have to hide all actual "electrical" devices on our hvac plans individually.

Try to avoid hiding things on an 'element' basis if possible. It can have serious impact on graphics performance.
If you require more granular control of elements in one object category you can create sub-categories, either in the family editor or in the project, and assign families to those sub-cats
