    Default dynamic block and attributes?

Is it possible to attach a distance parameter to the length of an attribute? Looking to set the block up so as the length of the attribute input, would make the symbol stretch out.

I know how to add a stretch to a block, find the length, and add it to an attribute.
But how you do it the other way around, and effect the block is a tough question.

Is this what your asking? Do you have a sample file of your dynamic block?

It sounds as if you are entering the realms of Parametric modelling.

I used a CAD package called Varimetrix years ago and it was superb for that use. If I am not mistaken I have not found a way to implement this to a dynamic block yet.

If I find a way I will update this thread...

no thats not possible... just the opposite is possible though. however, it sounds like you want a block that is scaled according to specific standards like a 2X4 or 2X6 or 2X8

what this will do is allow you to create the standards i.e. 2", 4", 6" 8" and when complete and working the user will only be able to select those from a pulldown list. then the block will size accordingly.

here is another thread that will get you going in the right direction using a lookup.
