Default Button Images (Icons) Do not show up on my Ribbon

    Hello,

First let me say, I'm an Autodesk idiot. So if you respond, you need to speak really slowly if you catch my drift.

    I am using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2009.
I have a Ribbon, and I managed to add an "Object Snap" Ribbon Panel to my Ribbon tab "Home"

I even managed to creat this little beauty for a little icon of Mid-point between two points.

    (Feel Free to Steal it)

But For the Life of me, I can't get any Icons to show up in my actual ribbon. here is the procedure I am using to try to get those to show.

    Open CUI
Customize Tab, pull down menu to "acad.cui"
    Expand the Ribbon Panels
Expand the Panel in Question "Object Snaps"
Highlight a command with no icon (One being end point snap)
When highlighted the Panel Preview show a Iconless ribbon panel
however the "button Image" shows the correct Icon.
I then scroll through all the Icons inside the Button Image portion of the screen and Select the correct image. Now the Panel Preview shows correctly.
However when I hit the apply or Ok button nothing changes on my actual Ribbon Panel, and I still have an Iconless Panel.

When I reopen my CUI and go back to the "Object Snaps" Panel, it once agains show Iconless in the Panel Preview.

Any Ideas on how to fix this? I've had the two CAD guru's at my office look at it, and they are puzzled as well.

    Thanks for your time!

Make sure the location of the icon is specified by the property in the CUI command.
Next, close AutoCAD and delete the Acad.mnr file in your Support folder.
Restart AutoCAD, which will rebuild the menu resource file. As long as the CUI can find the icon, this should work.
Also, make sure you have installed the latest AutoCAD updates if you are doing any ribbon editing.

However, I'm a bit confused why you are editing Acad.cui when you are using Civil 3D. Are you in a "Run as AutoCAD" profile?

Okay I go to my Cui, and look at the Ribbon Panels, then my objectsnap panel, and then my endsnap command and under properties for images it has this location for both the small and large image

    C:\Documents and Settings\pmg\Application Data\Autodesk\C3D 2009\enu\Support\Icons\end.BMP

    I went into
    C:\Documents and Settings\pmg\Application Data\Autodesk\C3D 2009\enu\Support
and moved the acad.mnr file to my desk top and then restarted Autocad, and That did not appear to have any effect. My icons are still blank.

My IT guys says we have the latest and greatest updates and patches.

I really have no clue. That is what the smart people were doing.

I don't really know what you mean. I use the Civil3D features, like Alignments, Profiles, Grading, Corridors, Pipes, etc.

Thanks for your help! Any other Ideas? Or did I not follow your directions correctly?

When you go to Options, what is the current profile?

I ran into this same issue in Civil3D when i added some map and civil toolbars into the ribbion. The method I used got a little better results but not reliable. Instead of modifing the partial CUI file and converting a toolbar to a ribbion panel I selected the acad.cui(or whichever cui you need a toolbar converted from) from the pull down menu just under "Customizations in Main CUI". Open the Toolbars selection right click on the bar you want to add and select "Copy to Ribbion Panels". Like I mentioned earlier I have had some success doing it this way, I have some blank panels in my ribbion for just loading it up. I belive this is just a bug of a new user interface and hope it gets fixed with the next release.
