    Default Linked Revit file visibility

Is there any way to set a template to have a linked revit file's default visibility set to "by linked view"

The reason i ask is that when I went on my Revit course, it was suggested to isolate any cad imports by linking into a Revit rile, then using that file to link into your working file, which is great, as you don't get all the junk line styles etc, but....

...when you link that file in, it gives you an error of not being able to go centre to centre for positioning, and you get nothing visible till you set the link to be by linked view rather than the default by host view.

The template of course, cannot set anything for linked revit files, as there aren't any linked files, so no tab exists to set any options.

I have not used this method but it seems benefitial. Have you tried imported your cad files into the base model as attachments without using the "current view only" option?

That is how it was coming in by default (with current view only unchecked).

The linked model always spits out a "cannot get center of imported geometry in current view to place import" because it's default display is off.

I'm sure our instructor didn't need to change view settings to get it to display...maybe because my linked acad is a link, rather than an import?
