    Exclamation "this action has caused the _____ workset to be deleted"

    In my model I have groups saved as separate files so that when users modify the groups I can reload them onto the model. But when I try to do that lately, the error "this action has caused the _____ workset to be deleted" appears, with the only option of making the objects editable, which would take a long time because I have many instances of the groups on my model. This error also appears when trying to delete the whole group, an instance or all instances of it. What's going on !?! Thanks

    It happened in a project of mine too, it was related to an instance of a group, that somehow had some mishap with the definition of another group.

    I never did figure it out...

    If you are using Revit 2009 or 2010, the only SURE way to get rid of this is see if you can narrow it down to one of more groups, then submit a report to Autodesk subscription center. They'll provide you an upload address, and you can post the file there. It may take a day or so, but they can fix the issue, and send you a notice, where you can then ownload it again. Sorry, It has happened on two different files, and the ONLY way to eliminate this issue is to follow above procedure.

    There is a debug.ini file that you can get from support. It will allow the deletion of nonempty worksets, which will let you purge the item out, or manually delete the definition...

    How do I get my hands on this debug.ini file? Do I have to start a support request with Autodesk?

    Im sure someone here will send it to you, or you can get it from the Factory filing a SR. Filing the SR makes more sense, as its one more documented case that the problem happens. if you fix it yourself, the numbers they have for it occuring are skewed.

    add the following lines into your Revit.ini file
    [DebugModes]
    AllowDeletionOfNonEmptyWorkset=1

    The debug.ini will not fix significant corruption problems in a Revit file with this problem. We recently had a file where we tried everything, went back and forth, they thought they figured out steps to allow me to fix it myself, and still it did not work. Finally took two tries over a week to get the file fixed by development.

    The problem with the ini is it does what it say, it allows things to be deleted in instances when they should not be. Depending on how badly things are screwed up, this can result in stuff being deleted that you don't realize until too late, or can't prevent it from being deleted.

    File an SR, its your best and safest bet.
