Can't edit emailed drawing. LT 2009

I have a person that regularly sends me drawings that need to be copied into a "template" drawing of mine. On more than 1 occasion, I can check dimensions, rotate the drawing, etc., but sometimes I cannot "select all", "copy with base point", then 'insert" into my template. Are these drawings being sent with protection on. Or, am I just missing a command that will make everything work. Help.

If you're using Copy & Paste, sometimes the clipboard gets "overloaded" (for want of a better word).
If this is the case, restarting acad will usually fix the problem.
