3D Detail Callouts

I wish for the ability to create a detail callout that can be shown in 3D. The callout could simply 'circle' the area to be detailed, but then the detail view could be in 3D, with the ability to force an Isometric view, or perhaps use a perspective view.

Example: I was drawing a HSS steel tube baseplate detail. It would have been nice to show this in 3D, looking down in an Isometric view so that I could see the HSS tube, base plate, anchor bolts, concrete footing, etc.

Are you saying you'd like to use a callout to describe the location on a plan but once in the view use View Orient to change the orientation to an iso view etc?

How is that different ( besides possibly a different UI ) from
a) Create desired 3d view
b) Use reference callout to point to it
?

Yes, Steve or Leonid,

Both of those options would work. Cuurently, you can't point a callout to reference a 3D view, or you can't re-orient a callout view.

A possible work-around is to export an image of the 3D, then import that image into a drafting view and have your call out reference that drafting view.
