Arrow Drawing in the 1st quadrant

I recently read an article in AUGI world Jan/Feb 2004 page 16 by Sanjay Kulkarni about drawing set up. It mentioned that drawings should be set up so all geometry is placed in the first quadrant because of erroneous results from commands such as AREA on Polylines.
I opened and inquired on all my drawings that we use for a Facilities Management database/overlay Archibus 12.3 and noticed 11 of 29 drawings don't meet this criteria. See Attachment
What are the erroneous results that can happen? Is this a concern within Archibus?
    Thanks,
    Bill

These two documents list a service patch to correct for issues with the
area command, although I can see no positive benefits or negative impacts
of elements created in any quadrant.
