    Default grain direction

    Hi guys,

I'm attaching a picture of a render that I'm doing for a small project. We're using Zinc Composite panels and I can't seem to get the orientation of the Zinc grain in the right direction. We want the grain to go horizontally instead of vertically. Any suggestions/ comments are welcome. Thank you for reading my post.

Add a parallel line surface pattern to your material. You can then rotate the surface pattern and the rendered material pattern will also rotate.

    muttlieb,

The surface pattern is already running horizontally. I added a surface pattern even before I started to render. The render is still going vertically.

Did you rotate the pattern? The direction of the surface pattern and the material pattern may not match.

I tried to rotate it but it gave me this error "Can't rotate element into this position.". I also tried switching between different surface patterns and I got the same error message.

Are you sure you're highlighting on a line of the surface pattern for rotation, and not trying to rotate the actual element?

I had to edit the generic model and rotate the pattern from inside the editor. I was able to rotate the surface pattern and when I rendered, the grains followed the correct direction. Thank you so much muttlieb.
