    Default Autodesk Seek alternative

Anyone know of a good web-based server-side software similar to what Autodesk Seek offers?
Not looking for any client based software that requires being installed on individual PCs.

Unless they are willing to hand over their code/software so that we can install it onto our servers, that's not going to cut it.
I know of the countless number of online content sharing sites, but I am looking for something that we could run on the company intranet.

Seek will someday soon allow you to path your own content so it will be used for your own libraries as well as the online library. I know that doesn't help you immediately....

Interesting. I assume by Seek you are refering to the Content Search toolbar? It sure would be nice to have a mini Seek application inside our chosen Autodesk software that read our custom library.

Its an external app within Revit but Avatech's content browser is supposedly able to pull info from your intranet. You just have to contact the guys and give them the ip coding.

Personally I like this method as it is all within Revit. If you talk to Avatech I think they can lock/ unlock certain options like open, load, edit, ect.

Ah, I see what you mean now. I've only ever used the standard seek function on the Tubes.

We're having a similar discussion at the moment of how we're going to share content between regional offices. I suggested setting up an SVN site so we can just do a daily update to our local content repository and receive a log of updated and added files., but for the moment it looks like we're going to have an FTP that we will have to go through and check every time we're looking for something (in case it's been added since last time we checked) and then if it's found we manually copy it to our local server.

Going to be so much fun.

This is the general setup I have suggested at the moment. We have one location to update and then push the content out to the local read-only servers. This solves have the issue.

Now if only we can get a really functional and informative content browser (like the Seek UI) built into our software to search the local content, it will be complete.
