I have a quick question, Do you instruct your team members to delete there local files each night?

Or does the archive automaticly delete files when they get to a set age limit?

I am worried that the folder may get to big.

    Thank you,
Almost missed your post Will, the script automatically moves the local to an archive folder and moves any archives to the recycling bin everytime this is run, which could potentially add up over time, but I've never had problems with 40 or socomputers, if they run out of space just have to empty the recycle bin. If you're really worried about it you could have it delete the archive instead of recycling it, but I like the redundancy of lots of backups.

    Thanks David,

    You really thought of everything!

I will be sharing this post and utility with my office in a few weeks.
We are in the early stages of implementing Revit.

    David,

When I use the "Detach From Central" option on your launch utility, two sessions of
Revit are opened. One with my detached copy and one with my local file opened. Can you tell me why it is doing this or if you meant for it to? I end up having to close the session of Revit that has the local file open manually.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

    Scotti

Is there any plans to create a gui feature that eliminates the need to retarget the shortcut for every project? Being a admin to this process it can get repetitive quickly when setting this up for multiple users on multiple projects. Am I wrong or do I need a shortcut for every project on my desktop to make this work for multiple projects? Thanks fo rthe hard work!

What I have done is create a central location on the network that has all the shortcuts, then I placed a shortcut to this folder on everyones desktop.

You could potentially do a different sort of gui to run this and then select a project, potentially storing the paths in an ini.

DaveB's version may work better if you don't want a gui at all

Also on the last page Jeremy posted a gui for selecting projects

One more thing. Is there a way to advance this further by having it automatically resaving over the newly created Detached form Central version when that selection is chosen? just an idea.

I have updated the original file to work with 2010 and added a tab that shows the installed build of Revit and the worksharing monitor, also added a checkbox for the worksharing monitor if you do not want to open it.

dcohen, do you get any specific error message? I have not seen this problem with SP3. Try the new version and see if that helps.
