    Angry bracing

I am starting to think there is no real way of controlling a brace item, so I guess if i want a vertcal of anything i need to recreate it as a column.

Does anyone have a usable way of controlling the way a brace inserts?

I'm trying to model a curved truss on an awning, and am about to start using model lines since the objects are leaving me in tears and pushing me to the point where I'm getting very close to smashing my very expensive laptop that I can't afford to replace.

    Hi Kathy -

It's pretty hard to tell exactly what you are trying to do from your email, BUT generally I would
create a workplane using a Ref Plane if you're not on grid, take a temporary section/elevation at that location, making sure the current workplane is set to your required grid/workplane, and then place the brace by picking one end then the other.

I don't know if that makes much sense but, needless to say, it's generally not a problem placing the bace members. Maybe you need to post a pic of what you're trying to do if this doesn't help?

    Adam.

I hear ya Katika, I'm at my witts end with bracing as well. I think I'd rather play a game of marbles in the middle of the expressway than try to draw bracing in Revit! It's like it has a mind of its own. I wish there was a way to turn off any sort of "auto connect" feature so it would just let me freehand in the dang members and make them look like they connect where I want them to connect.

Sorry I couldn't help you with this response but at least I feel a little better after venting.
