Default Unhandled Exception - setting current surface

In a drawing file, when trying to set a current surface, they get the following error message: "Unhandled Exception C00000FD (c00000fdh) at address 7C90E8C5h". If I open the file and do the same thing, I don't get the error. I've tried auditing and purging with no changes. Is there a setting somewhere causing this possibly?

Do both you and the other person have the same access permissions to the project directory and all of its subdirectories?
