Exporting areas to Excel

Hi,

Can some give me a helicopter view of what would be needed to automate a function that will export all the areas to an excel spreadsheet for use in area reports? Or alternatively whether there is software availible that does this?

For example:
A drawing has a special layer called AREA. All the different tenant areas have been boxed using polyline objects within this AREA layer. I need to be able to add custom attributes to each "area block" to specify a building code, a unit number and the area.
Then I want to run a command that will export all the "area blocks" with their attributes into excel.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is an ExtractAttributes sample that comes with acad if you installed the sample files. That should give you a pretty good framework.

If you are using ADT make up a schudle that show the are data you need and then you can use the export schudle command to export to excel
