Default Some but not all dialogue boxes missing ???

Certain dialogue boxes won't pop up, like bhatch, eattedit, or some of the C3D boxes like when trying to edit AEC point display items. This is the second time this has occured. the first time fixed itself and I don't know why? when envoked AC acts like the box is there but I don't see it. If I do an ESC the the commad cancels and put me back at command prompt. It's driveing me crazy!!!!!

Yeah, there's lots of problems like that with the 2009 line of products. I think it's related to the palettes, in particular the new layer manager, although Toolspace itself seems to cause problems if you have it docked and set to auto-hide. Modal dialogs don't always stay on top, and often get hidden behind other stuff.

Often, if you look in your windows task bar, you'll see your missing window, sometimes flashing orange in an attempt to indicate that it's trying to get your attention, sometimes not. Clicking on it (sometimes more than once) will usually bring it to the front.

Sounds like they are "off your screen"... ?
If so, and they are true dialogs, not palettes, then give this a try...

Yeah, that problem happens too, but usually only if you have multiple monitors (or a laptop, and you connect/disconnect external monitors). But if it's that problem, there's more to the trick that makes it easier...

With the process outlined in that link, you have to blindly hit arrow keys and hope you manage to get the window to move back onto the screen.

The procedure I like to use is:

    1) Find the dialog in the task bar at the bottom of the screen, right-click on it, and select "Move". This takes care of instances where the off-screen dialog does not have focus, and "ALT+Space,M" does not work. I also always forget that I have to hit "ALT+Space", but that's just me...

    2) After you hit an arrow key, you can use your mouse. You have to hit an arrow key first, but then the next time you move your mouse, the missing window will jump to the cursor location. Then you don't have to blindly hope you are hitting the right arrows.

But that is impossible for child dialogs such as the layer manager in 2008 for example...
