Cool large file size - tried everything!!

I have attached a dwg file that is 1.3mb. there are 6 line, 3 arcs, 1 linetype and only layer 0 and defpoints.
i have been through every filesize article on these and other forums. i have purged nested objects and regapps, checked for blank text boxes, exported to a dxf and resaved as a dwg and there are no layer filters... i even went so far as to delete the objects and the saved file was STILL 1.3mb.

i cannot wblock it out because it freezes my cad and crashes. i can't even copy and paste it into another drawing, because it freezes and crashes.

i HAVE created this object in a new file just by redrawing it... but i have other files to which this is happening. this particular dwg is a piece of equipment that we insert into a base drawing, and i only noticed the problem when after inserting it into the base the base file doubled in size... which i only noticed after i tried xreffing the base file into another drawing, which crashed.

i'm starting to suspect that one of the computers in the office is having some issues as it seems that files that get worked on with this computer come out with problems like this...

Thumbs up Re: large file size - tried everything!!

you have about 12 million anotation scales in the drawing, once those were purged it was only 126k
here is a link to get the utility to fix it.

also, after talking to the team which is having these issues, one member pointed out that she could get rid of those annotations by simply changing the units of the dwg from imperial to metric (which is what it should have been, but wasn't). we just didn't notice the file size change...

you can also just type in

-SCALELISTEDIT (use the - in front or it causes an error)
    Restore, yes, exit

I beleive this is a problem that needs repeated management in ACAD 2008.
Blocks, xrefs, copy and paste all bring their scale lists in when added to a drawing, and leave them even after they are deleted or detached.

It's not just that the filesize becomes enormous, the real problem is that the drawing opens much slower & certain commands become inefficient. You may even run into fatal errors due to memory full ... you can see this happening if you've got +60k scales and type SCALELISTEDIT (without the hyphen): as the dialog tries to display all of them, RAM is used up until there's no more.

BTW, the -SCALELISTEDIT method is the simplest solution and doesn't require any additional add-ons. This thread Scale List Nightmares!! has quite a few solutions ... some better than others, some automatic, some able to clean many DWG's at once.
