    Default Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library....Runtime Error

    Im using Windows XP Pro, SP2 (error was still with SP1), P4 3.4Ghz, 1Gb Ram, NVidia FX1100 Graphics, Using Programs such as Autodesk Inventor & AutoCAD. I don't have a clue what Microsoft Visual is but when using the Windows Explorer I get a message saying Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library....Runtime Error telling me that the application will be terminated. Click the OK button and all windows explorer related programs crash closed. Im not sure if this is the right place to post this question but any redirection and help appreciated. I tried a post in the Visual C++ forum and the reply i got was "This is a problem with your AutoDesk software which happen to be compiled
    using Visual C++. You need to contact AutoDesk customer support to figure
    out what's going wrong."
    The message says:
    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
    Runtime Error!
    Program: C\WINDOWS\explorer.exe
    This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please cotact the application's support team for more information.

    That error is not related to AutoCAD, but to Window's Explorer app. I would advise running a comprehensive RAM test on your system, and if that doesn't find anything, a reinstall of the OS might be in order.

    Still having the problem and the problem seems to be related to Inventor. I can browse the Windows explorer with other file OK but when I enter a folder with Inventor files I get the error message.

    Question Re: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library....Runtime Error

    Hi

    If that's the case, I no longer see this as an AutoCAD issue.... I would therefore like to move this thread to the Inventor 8 Forum.

    Do you agree?

    Thanks, Mike

    No worries, move it to Inventor. I done a bit more exploring and found it to be a problem while viewing Inventor files as Thumbnails in the windows explorer. Although its a quick machine, windows does not seem to handle Inventor thumbnails, its not a problem if the view is set to list,details, etc.
