Layer freeze in ALL viewports

Vplayer is one of my favorite commands. With ACAD MEP 2008, I used to be able to freeze a layer in all viewports in the project. Now I am working with MEP 2009 and I am only able to freeze a layer(s) on the current tab I am working on. This slows me down quite a bit if i would want a certain layer to be shown in only 1 viewport. Does anyone know of a way to freeze layers in numerous viewports on numerous tabs?

If you want to freeze a layer in all viewports, go up to the toolbar and select the layer
pulldown. First make sure the layer you want to freeze is not the current layer, then find the layer you want to freeze and click Freeze in All Viewports (next to
the lightbulb). That should do it.

This is why I do not use separate layouts in paperspace. I have all my viewports in ONE layout, then when I use VPLAYER freeze I type in layers I want frozen and select viewports to freeze those layers with a crossing window.
I am not a fan of using multiple layers for that very reason.
