    Default L-Angle-Column.rfa

I was disappointed to discover that Autodesk didn't bother to include angel columns.
I also cannot find a file to download so I started my own.
Referencing the Angle beam family and the wide flange column family I generated an angle column family. Unfortunately, I cannot not get the geometry to update when the specific angle is loaded. Additionally, the insertion point is not even at the centroid of the section.

Is anyone willing to take a look at this?

    Hi
Post your column family and I'll take a look, also include your txt file listing your sizes.

    Regards

    Anthony,
    Thanks for the help.
I figured out the profile changes. It isn't as elegant as using the angle profiles that I got from Autodesk that they use on their angle "beam", but it does work for changing the size of the angles.

The location of the angle is still messed up. I am concerned that this will also effect the analytical axis location for analysis.

    Hi Darrell,
The Center of the column is controled by the the central reference planes,
I've added some additional reference planes to your familly. under there properties I've ticked the defines origin check box, this should force your column to be in serted by the the centerline, (Not the COG)

    I Hope this helps.

Here is a double angle column family. Thanks for the jump start.

One thing to mention is that this family's center is the centroid of the angle similar to the 2LL beam family.

I also went back an updated your original file to use the profiles if you want it.

you could change the units to metric, but would still need to update everything to use metric units, including the type catalog txt file(s).
