metal roof deck

I am trying to put a metal roof deck but I don't get the option to put a metal deck (don't know what i am doing wrong).
I can show a deck on my details, on the plan i can show just a basic roof and whe i duplicate it i can change it to a metal deck but the profile doesn't show. is there a way to do it like you would with a slab on grade floor that shows the deck so that when you cut the section you don't have to create it for each section that you cut.

Have you selected structural deck from the Function dorp down list in the Construction Dialog box of the floor?

When you pick it instead of "structure" or substrate then options will appear that allow you to change the profile.

I think you need to load in the profile (trimdeck, custom orb whatever)
into the actual "structure" of the family.
Go into your 3d component - edit/new
then edit structure
in here you can import the profile and so in your sections/details etc you should see the profile rather than a solid item.

"Roofs" won't show the deck profile. Only "Floors/Slabs" do. I don't know why its just a Revit thing. You can use a Floor as a roof. I generally recommend against it though.

I've never tried that before, but you might have to use a floor as a roof. It could make it easier for you to do it. It is just a bit of settings on the plan.
