Piping and 45 degree elbows

I'm laying pipe, everything is fine, then they want to use some 45's in places where 90's are going to try and save some clearance. I go to the routing preferences and change to rise/run, angle set to 45, start laying pipe, get to my elevation change point, type E for elevation, enter the new height and *poof*, it throws a 90 degree elbow in there.

Am I missing something here?? No seriously, something to do with the way Autocad MEP functions, not anything mental.. The sanity has long been absent..

Ideas??

I'm thinking I should be able to lay pipe, happily going along my path, a change in elevation here and there using 90's, then get to a tight spot where I need to throw in a couple of 45's and presto, it works and I go along my merry way... Am I dreaming??

Maybe change your "Angle Lock" setting to "Locked"?

I'm not seeing an option to lock.. That line is missing off my properties palette.. I'm also using MEP 09..


Hold the phone! I found it.. I right clicked on the pipe in my tool palette and found the angle lock.. Now to test it and see it work..

OK, that doesn't seem to be doing the trick..

I start a pipe at an elev of 20', draw a length 10' long, then type E and change the elevation to 15' and draw another 10' section, then type E again and change back to 20'. The result comes out to a 90 degree bend going into a 45, the pipe going down to 15', then doing like a 135 degree turn back straight up to another 90..

45 degrees is locked and everything..

Is it me or the software??

In my experiences, it is always the software... heh heh

Strange, I can get it to work in the horizontal, I will play with it more and see...
