    Default panels will not rehost!

I've got a couple of panels on a project that i cannot rehost to another wall. they are curretnly hosted by the linked revit model and the "rehost" button is grayed out. what's the deal? it's only doing this to a couple of panels and as far as i can tell, there is nothing different about them than all the other panels in my file.

What type of view are you looking at them? Plan view? Section? I came across this a long time ago and I think it had to do with the type of view I was using, but I could be wrong.

Did someone pin them? Worksets?...Did you borrow the element first?

i am in a plan view, and the panels are not pinned and/or assigned to a different workset. what is really strange is that i can shift the panels horizontally across the wall "plane". If i continue to move the panel outside the boundaries of the associated rooms, revit gives me a message stating the panel has lost association with its host... but i still cannot rotate them or rehost them to another plane, i.e., another wall. i've got other panels in my project that work just fine. this is not the first time that it's happened... the only alternative i've come up with is delete the panel and reassign all of the circuits again, but that is very time consuming.

The same thing happened to me and I never figured out why it happened or how to fix it. The work around I used was to place another panel with the same name in the new location and hide the old one.

thanks. that's a good idea for a temporary work around...much better than deleting the panel and starting over. however, it would still be nice to know what causes it to happen. maybe it is just one of the million glitches with Revit MEP.

We had the same problem exactly where some would rehost and some wouldn't. Lucky we were able to settle with keeping them on the wall they were...it was just the engineer being picky is why they needed to be moved. So hopefully someone will shed some light on this one so it can help us all out. Thanks for posting!

Anymore news on this phenomenon? I've found that not only is it happening to my panels, but some air terminals as well. Any thoughts as to how to fix this would be appreciated.

I have not had any luck or any other feedback. I figure that it may just be a glitch in the programming. Maybe it has worked itself out in Revit 2010.

2010 Doesn't seem to fix the problem. I've got a few air terminals on my current project that won't rehost. DOUGH!
