    Default Stairs-Hidden riser and Treads

I am looking for a solution to indicate stair riser and treads as dashed when hidden by the stringer in a section view.

You can set the view to wireframe, then use the line tool on them to make them dashed, then set the view back to hidden line...

If you make the stringer using a railing profile (like what many of us do for steel C-channel stringers), then you can simply use the Show Hidden Lines tool, up there next to the Linework tool. Your first pick will be your stringer, then the 2nd pick will be the stairs, and voila! hidden stair lines. The line type/style/pattern of the hidden lines for all objects using the Show Hidden Lines tool is controlled by the Hidden Lines subcategory for each element type category in Object Styles or V/G overrides.
