    Default ACAD Freezing

Allright, so my ACAD is frozen once again.
I thought I had fixed this problem just before christmas where I couldn't save drawings or now I guess I can't open them either.
The trick is, it is only certain drawings and it only happens to me. My co-workers can open and save the drawings no problem.
Okay, so how we fixed it last time is that we created an entirely new user on my computer. Completely reinstalled ACAD, stripped the computer of anything that might have reference old ACAD settings. I tried doing this on the previous user name and it didn't work. I had to create a new user.
If someone else logs onto my computer, the files work fine here.

I have also tried applying different work place settings and numerous things in that line of reasoning.

So does anyone have any idea what I could be doing wrong?

    AutoCAD just hates you.

    Sorry.

Thank you for that insightful reply!......

Well, I have learnt today that it is not just the user name. If I log in as someone else on my computer, I cannot save the file either.

I know, this is such a vague obscure problem, but if anyone has any ideas, I am up for suggestions.

I don't know how to work on files that I just cannot save.

Sounds like it might be a network problem.

Have your IT people check and make sure that you have all the correct privileges to the server you are saving to.

You might also try doing a repair or a complete reinstall of AutoCAD.

I had a lot of issues when I first installed '09 and it was due to a corrupt installation.

    I did apologise.

Anyway, is your user id (you) a member of the same group as the the other users?
What happens if you log to one of the other computers? As yourself? As someone else?
Are you opening/saving from/to a server? (of course you are but it's best to check).
Are you all in the same physical office?

It doesn’t seem to be network. Have you ever had a network selectively choose which files you can open and save?
I am going to try and do a complete reinstall.
This will probably be close to the 12th time I have uninstalled and reinstalled it. (At least ½ dozen!....)

    To answer John’s questions.
    1. Yes my user id is a member of the same group as the other users.
    2. I have logged onto two other computers as myself. One I can open the file, one I can’t. So I don’t think it is a user name thing either.
    3. Yes I am opening and saving from the server.
    4. And yes we are all in the same physical office.

I came across a problem a few weeks ago where we couldn’t open Autocad at all. And we had to go through some pretty intensive stuff to make sure everything was uninstalled. I am going to try and to that same process.

I was also told to defrag my computer because maybe the spot where it get’s stored is corrupted?.... I don’t know all that much about computer’s but I am trying!

If anyone else has some ideas besides taking my computer and smashing it! I am up for anything!

So, it's not the user id.
It could be a corrupted installation so defrag, CHKDSK and reinstall would be a good idea.
It could be network so traffic monitoring might show something. It could, possibly, be damaged network cables.

Well, I uninstalled every autodesk product on my computer. (Everything from Revit MEP, Structure, Archtecture, Civil 3D, and Autocad 2009.)

I went through everystep laid out in the following link to make sure that I got a clean install.

    http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet...linkID=9240617

And..... I still can't save the file.

Unless anyone has some ideas. We are going to reformat my computer tonight.

Can you do a SAVEAS to another file name or WBLOCK the drawing to a new file name?

Not suggesting this as a fix. Just wanted to know if you could save the affected files using other methods.
