    Default Masking Region line "snap"?

I have a family with a masking region, the outline of which is visible. When I load the family into my project, I want to be able to "snap" or "align" to the edge of my masking region. However, the edges will not highlight when my cursor hovers over the edge. I know i could solve this simply by creating reference planes or lines at the edge of my masking region, but it seems like a workaround. Is there another way?

I'm pretty sure that only reference planes/lines are available to use for aligning objects placed in projects. So no it's not really a workaround.

Thanks, Patrick. The reason I felt like it was "cheating" is because I have other symbolic lines in the family (of the same line type that I'm using around my masking region) to which I can snap/align/dimension. It seems like it just doesn't work when it's part of the masking region.

That said, I tried outlining the masking region in the family editor with both reference lines and reference planes; I can only get the edges to snap when I use the planes. Perhaps I'm doing something incorrectly, but since the planes work, I'm satisfied.

    Thanks again.

I have successfully used invisible lines in families to snap to. (on annotations where you cannot draw a reference plane)

It may be a case of not being able to snap to the model edges, but if you have a line or ref plane aligned to the edge than you can.

I agree that it is a bit quirky.
