Default Creating PDFs with Polygonal Viewports

While trying to create pdf's of a job, all but two sheets worked perfectly.. After much head scratching as to why.. I finally realized it was that these two sheets had polyagonal viewports instead of the standard rectangle viewport.. When these viewports are deleted the pdf works fine.. if left on .. the plot comes out as only a portion of the sheet.. which by the way does not follow in any way the size or shape of the offending viewport.

Has anyone else had this happen? If so.. is there a fix? A different setting perhaps..

Thank you in advance for your help..
    I am using Adobe 6.0

Create or re-create that viewport as a series of overlapping
rectalinear viewports (this will require the viewport objects
be set on a non plotting leyer)

    Michael,

thank you for your reply... I did already do that.. and made the pdfs... had to get the job out..

My question was "how" to create a pdf with the polyagonal viewport.. or if that was in fact possible..

thanks for your reply tho.. i appreciate any input..

    Hi

How exactly are you creating the PDF file from the AutoCAD drawing file -

Directly outputting to the Windows Adobe PDF Printer?

Creating an EPS file within AutoCAD then using Adobe Distiller?

    Some other method?

    Have a good one, Mike

    Hi

Give the EPS and Distiller route a try, is how we use to create PDF's from AutoCAD drawing files (You should find Non Rectangular Floating Viewports work without problem using that method).

We have now adopted a Third Party PDF application that is primarily designed for CAD use, works soooooo much better than Adobe when it comes to converting CAD files.

Have a search within the Forums for Third Party PDF Products like "Acroplot" / "Bluebeam" -

    Search Forums

If you have to use (Client requirements....) PDF to transfer CAD data (DWF is far superior alternative in my humble opinion) I think you will find a specialist PDF CAD Third Party App gives far better results, plus offers much greater functionality.

    Have a good one, Mike
