Default Light Fixture Modeling... Casting Shadows on Itself

    Hi all,

Let's say I'm modeling a light fixture... A decorative pendant, as an example.

I set the Light Source Definition as a point source, with a spherical distribution, located in the center (where the lamp would be). Then I model Solid Extrusions to represent the decorative fins, cones, baffles, whatever the light fixture may have.

Here's where I run into trouble... When I render an image, the light fixture casts shadows from itself!

Is there a way to specify that certain parts of geometry, or certain components, do not cast shadows?

    Thanks in advance.

Has anyone solved this problem. Using IES that casts light for example up and down with revit objects is quite impossible now.
