Default Plot Style Settings in 3D Perspectives

Any Help is appreciated. I was not sure where to post this issue, hopefully I choose correctly!

I have a two part problem most likely connected to each other. The first part being that we are getting very poor resolution output printing to a HP Design Jet 1055CM (only in a 3D perspective view) in AutoCAD LDD 2004. The second part is that the perspective views are not using the specified plotting parameters.

Our drawing contains 3 viewports 2 of which are 3D perspectives and the 3rd is a typical plan view. The plan view prints perfectly! The drawing is an existing site in a oil field showing the power poles from ground elevation extruded along the pole alignment to the top of the power pole drawn as 3DSOLIDS. The ground topo shown in the perspectives are 3D polylines as well as the power lines between each power pole. The 3rd viewport (plan view) prints perfectly utilizing the plot styles specified in our plot parameters. But the two viewports that display the perspectives will not use the plot styles so colors and line weights do not work and to boot the output is very very did I say very poor resolution.

We have also tried printing to 2 other devices a Kyocera KM-C3225 KX laser printer and to Adobe PDF Converter both improving the first issue but neither address being able to use our the plot style settings to control lineweights thickness and color.

I do not think it matters much, but we are also getting similar results using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2009

Thanks in advanced for your help, Mike

I also just installed the PS driver for the HP 1055CM and it also improves the first issue, but controlling the plot styles seems to be a mystery. My guess is I will need to actually create a 3D solid of some type for the vector data to produce any thickness.

    Thanks again, Mike

    Hi mserapiglia,

Please note I have *moved* this thread from the DV - The 3rd Dimension forum to this one, as I feel this particular forum is a more appropriate place for such a topic.

    Thanks, stusic
