    Default Irregular shaped footings

I am wondering how everyone is modeling irregular shaped footings in Revit Structure. I have a project with many deeper under-floor footings for machinery. These footings are shaped irregularly in plan, and have cutouts with varying height, slope, etc. in their slabs for placement of the machinery. I have done a couple with in-place families, but is there a way to do this with slabs? I'm not sure how far the slab edge tool will go in this. Just wondering how everyone else is approaching this - I searched here but didn't find answers for this specifically. Thanks.

I have found atleast for me that sweeps are the way to go. each condition for thickened equipment slabs seems to be different. the use of voids in the sweep family makes it relatively easy to achieve any geometry required.
slab edges also seem to give way too man hidden lines in plan view.

Sweeps sound like a good way to go - a little more detail please. Are you using standard "slabs" in the project and adding sweeps to them, or are you building a family with sweeps and loading it into the project?

I start with the OTB slab and use sweeps to add thicked pads for equipment,
    trenches, etc.... as needed.

I use the foundation slab (modelling/structutal/foundation/slab) for an irregular shaped footing (as long as its the same thickness throughout). Once in sketch mode, create whatever depth slab that you need for that footing.

Thanks for all the help - I am using sweeps for most of my footings with much success.
