Default How to export from C3D to .nwc?

    Hi!

I am newbie to C3D and want to get my model from Civil 3D to NavisWorks.

How do I get the nwc export option? I can't find it under any menu is it like Revit that you have to first install C3D and then install NavisWorks to get that menu item? any workaround for that??

also, I'd appreciate if anybody points me to a "best practice" guide for C3D -> NavisWorks, if anything like that exists!

thanks in advance for any help

I am by no means an expert at Navisworks but, every time I've used it, I've simply opened the C3D drawing in Navisworks with no exporting or anything of the sort. You may have to install the object enabler but I'm not certain about that.

    Thanks Brian!

the reason I am looking for that option is that when I open the dwg drawing in NavisWorks, any Layer that I have turned off in Civil 3D will not export to NavisWorks. it's just not there. I was wondering if the nwc export give you the option to also export hidden layers...

but if I get NavisWorks to import my hidden layers, I don't need the nwc export anymore.

    any thoughts??

    Best,

In navisworks go to tools > global options > file readers > DWG/DXF/SAT from here there are two check boxes that are unchecked by default. Convert off and convert frozen, adjust these to your needs.

If you have Navisworks Simulate loaded type NWDOUT to export to Navisworks.
I only found this out by accident as I was typing NWNAVIGATOR and was using the TAB key to cycle through other NW commands.
I could not find .nwd as an option in the export menu under the File pull down.
I could not find any mention of this in the Civil3D help or on their website.

We usually export to DWF & bring it in to Navisorks. But sorry, this will not solve your problem of hidden & frozen layers.

I hope one day, C3D will have .nwc exporter like Revit. Well they claim:

    "Autodesk BIM Suite of Products"

As a first step to this claim how about their product can talk each other?
