it's a stripped down version of Revit that only focuses on conceptual massing and analysis, which will be released as a technology preview. I'm not sure what the benefits are, but if they added sud-d surface modeling tools, mesh tools, nurbs, an algorithmic editor and other modifiers, then it could have some great potentials.

"Released it on the web" had he thinking it was a cloud app run as a SaaS. But looking at it again, i dont think so. I wish though!

Ah I see now. Looks cool, but completely pointless for our work. Conceptual massing with blobby towers is not what we do most of the time. We draw buildings in detail for construction. That's what I'd like the factory to be busy doing.

As with any product, innovations at the high end side trickles down to the consumers product line.

Not true...tools work fine for "plain" architecture too and easier to transition from "design" to "buildable". Check out the recent videos for the Conceptual Energy Analysis tools that became available with the subscription advantage pack. The features that allow you to carve up the facade of a building quickly as wells as sketch subdivision on the surfaces of massing are all part of that package. Vasari makes the conceptual massing and energy analysis tools available without the additional overhead of the rest of Revit...and most likely...for free, at least that's the rumor.

However if your firm doesn't do any sort of Energy Analysis now...then yes, the tools won't get you excited unless someone there wishes they could do so more readily without buying Ecotect or IES software.

Couple of blogs are talking Vasari! AP23 posted a link to David Light's blog, but I also want to mention Steve Stafford's OpEd blog:
