I know it a simple command variable but can't think of it at the moment. None of my dialog boxes come up and I don't want to keep typing in the command line. Does any one know how to turn them back on?

set CMDDIA = 1
(I can't believe it - "dialog boxes" returns nil results in the FAQs)

I got a result when searching the forum AutoCAD FAQ's (is it possible you were searching Forum FAQS)
Hi
Plus look at the following thread in the AutoCAD FAQ forum...
When trying to open a drawing, the dialog box does not display
Have a good one, Mike
