Unhappy Strange behavior on File Open and File Save

I am using AutoCAD 2005 (without Mech Desktop extensions) and just recently the following strange thing has happened...

When I load AutoCAD and select Open from the File menu I am not presented with the standard Windows FileOpen dialog box, instead I just get a line on the command line that says "Enter name of drawing to open <.>:"

The same sort of thing happens when I select File, Save or File, Save As...

I've been using AutoCAD for about 20 years so I tend to think I know a little about this program, but frankly I've never run into this behavior before. And now thanks to Windows' long pathnames and network file locations it really isn't practical to be typing these long paths on the command line.

Anyone know why this might be happening? and/or how to fix it?

    Thanks

Check your FILEDIA setting. It should be set to 1.
