Default Center object between two lines Autocad 2010

I have an object (text) between two other objects (lines). I want the text to be centered between the objects. I've googled and googled, searched help, and I cannot figure it out. This is my first time using Autocad 2010. It's for a school project, and I'm trying to add the finishing touches and make it look pretty and professional.

Here's an example of what I'm trying to do:

    ----------------- centered text ---------------------

    and

    | centered text |

Thank you so much for your help!

(unfortunately the forums delete whitespace... so much for that =\ )

congrats on your first post. Have you tried middle center justifying your text and using the Midpoint between Two Points for your location. When you issue the MTP it asks for the first point, then the second, and then places the object at the midpoint between those 2 points.

Hi Ccowgill. Thank you! I came across the MTP or M2P command while googling, but Autocad 2010 didn't like it.

I'm using normal Autocad, not Architecture or anything like that.

What do you mean it "didn't like it"?
Start the TEXT command, enter J (for justify), MC (for Middle Center), then when it asks for the middle point of text, enter M2P....

Are you getting an error there?

No; that worked! I'm sure that will take care of what I want to do.

Thank you both for your help. This is literally my first time working with Autocad other than maybe a two hour intro in class. Just finishing up doing a basic construction site plan, and it's definitely been a learning experience.

    Thank you again!

Another way to center text on your line is to create dtext with middle justification somewhere on your line. Issue the TRIM command and select the text. Then select the piece of the line running through the text. The line will trim around the text thus creating centered text on a line.

That is a good tip. Thanks.
