This also is a sample on tedg's screenshot, the portion of the crosshair outside the paper area should be "black".
On his screenshot the crosshair color shows no change.
This is exactly same as mine.

This is not an issue of change crosshair color entirely but only the portion outside the paper area.

BTW, my machine was bought 2 years ago. and there was no problem with v2011.

    Win7 pro 64bit
    i7 CPU
    ATI radeon HD 5650
    8Gb of ram
I actually have the same issue you do.
I have Acad 2012, and the white/black crosshairs disappear in the white back ground space in the layout.
In otherwords, I don't have the ability to do what you show in your screen shot for Acad 2011.
I didn't really notice it until you brought it up.

    My machine is fairly new,
    Win7 pro 64bit
    i7 CPU
    16gb Ram

I think the graphics card is an "AMD (ATI) FirPro M5950 (FireGL) Mobility Pro Graphics"
(but I'm not a computer guy, so I'm not sure if this is the card I'm looking at)

It must be a 2013 feature. It only occurs if your PS background is set very dark (e.g. black) and you have the page border displayed - thus the page is black, but the surround is light-grey. In 2012 the white crosshairs stay white throughout. But in 2013 Vanilla/ACA/Struct/MEP the xor "feature" happens.

Personally I like this more. Though I usually have my PS background as white (for other reasons) - so it never bothered me in my setup.

I have to agree with you.

    Personally I like this more...
I set layout as black and this is why I prefer the one in v2011.
The other thing I don't like is the UCS icon changed since v2010 or v2011.
It seems that the users have no choice and I can't see that if a couple of lines adding to wishlist will work.
We have to "like" it or...

I don't know what to say. Just tried it on 2013 ACA at the office - here the lines don't change colour. Though the same version on my laptop does! I've checked if it's something like a screen card, tried with Hardware Accell on/off makes no difference. The PC has a Radeon, the laptop a GForce mobile, perhaps it's something to do with nVidia which AMD does not provide?

And I've searched the registry on both to figure out what "setting" is different. I simply can't ind anything. Though after I change the crosshair colour on the laptop the "feature" disappears, even if I change the colour back to White it's still not working anymore. This tells me it MUST be some sort of setting with is turned on with a default install, but gets turned off when changing the colour in Options - but where?

I tried the Hardware acceleration icon and it can recreate both situations.
no acceleration - with XOR color
    with acceleration - no change

Wow! I tried the HW-A before and it had no effect. Perhaps I was doing it wrong. Now it does this every time! Thanks for that.

BTW.. when messing with my crosshair colors, I lost the visiblility of my PS window selection box.
I figured it out by finding THIS THREAD this morning, I love AUGI!

    Again, I have a Radeon.
    Perhaps it is the cause?
Or simply this is a sort of AutoCAD "bug"?

BTW - I've just found that my HWA is not availiable as the "change settings" button in display-advance settings is grey-out.

2013 here and the crosshair does not change color, remains white in both areas. But I never have my setup to show that way, the background is all black.

Try turning it off through the options dialog --> System tab --> Performance settings button --> Manual tune button.

It's very strange that yours is greyed out. My laptop has that dual-graphics mode where I can turn on either the Geforce or the i7's built-in IBM graphics. Even if I turn off the GeForce I can still turn the HWA on/off.

Me too, though in my case the MS=Black and the PS=White. Though for this i changed that just so I can test this scenario. To have the page black & the surround white (as the others are showing), turn on the Page Backgrouns in Options --> Display --> about the 4th check from bottom left.
