    MP,

More upgrades, force majeure, coming from AutoDesk!

What a surprise! Yet another new cattle prod for 'slow' up-graders.

Wonder who the target audience is this time?

Post time for this nonsense should be April 1st. each year.

Compliance with the message postscript requires 'enduring silence' from everybody.

That is pretty much what is happening here already.

    Even provocative posts remain unanswered.

    Regards,

    WHG

I'm going to keep this well worded to avoid any conflicts with Forum rules...

    A couple questions:
1.) Should Autodesk not upgrade their product to make it better?
2.) Should they not advertise the changes that make their products better?

I understand the frustration, but they are a business with shareholders that are around to make money, and they help the design community in the process by producing better products with each release. The fact that some users are excited to help Autodesk shouldn't be a bad thing... it's really a good statement for the company and the products they produce.

The enduring silence comment is based on the fact there are many Beta testers here in the AUGI Forums,(Yes, I was one of them for this release) and we signed non-disclosure agreements to not talk about anything before the initial release. There are legal reasons why Autodesk can't divulge this information before a certain date and Autodesk (and ourselves) really do need to be careful or risk potential legal action or negative actions from Autodesk caused by revealing too much.

I'm actually one of the least Pro-Autodesk people in the forums (I'm very pro-technology and design) and I've said more than once I'd switch products if something superior came along. But I'm not anti-Autodesk either as I believe they do produce a good product and I believe they are criticized for their business practices when in reality they are being managed well(for the most part) as their marketshare and profits indicate.

If a post or comment isn't addressed please point to them so they can be answered... just realize forum guidelines prohibit certain topics, which is AUGI's right as this is a private Forum for their membership to use. (..and yes, many people in AUGI are very pro-autodesk, so you need to take those responses for what they are worth as all posts are judged on their merit and by the reader's personal views).

Wink Re: Breaking info on AutoCAD 2006

It's a tricky relationship. We are paying customers of Autodesk and as such we have a right to express our opinion about the product and how the people behind it conduct their business.

But we are not staying in the Autodesk hotel at the moment. Right now we are guests in Augi's home. You don't go into someone's home and complain to them about the cooking and housekeeping. They went out of their way wo make you feel welcome and at great personal expense.

If you have a beef, contact Autodesk directly and in private. If you don't like the forums, start your own e-mail contacts list and go for it!

Personally I am grateful to the forums for all the helpful people they put me in touch with. It has definitely made me more marketable as a Cad Operator and Cad Manager.
