Default Command dialog boxes no longer open

I suddenly lost the windows that should pop up when I click on a toolbar icon. For example, the "open file" icon used to load a window where I could navigate to find a drawing. That no longer happens, I just get a prompt on the command line. I'm running plain ACAD 2007, Windows XP Pro, Dell Precision 670.

    Hi,

Check to make sure that the FILEDIA system variable is set to 1.

    You're welcome, Ron.

I find it happens when the drawing recovery dialog comes up after a glitch. There are probably other things that will turn it off, also.

It will also happen if interrupt a script or lsp program that has turned them off; which a lot do for the purpose of running them. If you interrupt it before it's over, it may not have a chance to turn them back on.

this is a random occurance on many machines. i've solved them on mine by having those 'setvars' (from a lisp file) make sure they are set correctly everytime i open up cad.
Sometimes, i get lost in my own thoughts and need to ask directions to find my way back.

If you have your autosave setup make sure you check it after a glitch. Mine kept shutting off on me if I had to reboot the program when this problem came up.
